App Has Been Blocked

When you’re trying to run a program in Windows, this message may appear:

“User Account Control. This app has been blocked for your protection. An Administrator has been blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator”

It can happen when trying to run a Windows management tool, such as the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). In this case the error message continues like this:

“mmc.exe. Publisher Unknown. File origin: Hard drive on this computer. Program location: “C:\Windows\system32\mmc.exe” “C:\Windows\system32\compmgmt.msc” /s”

Try the following unblock the program:

Press the Windows + R keys to open the run command box.

Type “regedit” in the “Open” field and then click “OK” to open the Registry Editor.

Navigate to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

In the right-hand pane, double click on “EnableLUA”.

In the pop-up window, change the “Value data” from 1 to 0, then click “OK”.

Close the Registry Editor.

Restart your computer.

The program should now start without the error message.
