As Curtis puts it in this video: being awake doesn’t mean shit.

They are the crop of ‘good men’ who fail to do anything and knowingly let evil succeed.

In the Bible, Proverbs, Chapter 24 it reads:

“10 If thou faint in the day of aduersitie, thy strength is small:
11 If thou forbeare to deliuer them that are drawen vnto death, and those that are ready to be slaine:
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not: doth not he that pondereth the heart, consider it? and he that keepeth thy soule, doth not he know it? and shall not hee render to euery man according to his workes?”

There’s the also the saying “The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing”. I’d attribute it but Quote Investigator’s research indicates an unclear history.

There’s even a movie about the concept: A Few Good Men. A story where a three-headed team of military lawyers who continue to defend two soldiers because they believe the soldiers are being framed. Also, the conclusion is exactly what it should be. If you haven’t, give it a look.

Watching the first half of Curtis’ video will get you the story, and what seems to him to be a lost cause. Curtis’ story talks about people in the government, working for the government, who know what is going on, while doing nothing about it. They keep working there, while they could change jobs, for example.

The moral of the story, of course, is that information or knowledge alone is not enough. Derek Sivers has put it like this: If more information was the answer, we’d all be billionaire rock stars with six-pack abs. Derek was speaking in a context of how information is readily and abundantly available via the Internet. Spending your days online, reading many an article and becoming ‘awake’, is not enough. What are you going to do about it?

Be forewarned. We’re not fighting evil at the highest levels. We’re fighting evil everywhere. In that regard, I can recommend Jordan Peterson’s analysis of dictatorial societies. Many a one will gladly say that it wasn’t themselves, and point to the ‘leaders’ as the evil ones. As if the people under the top are categorically innocent, and all the evil cascades downward from the top. Fair enough. It’s likely that people at the top are evil actors. However, it is not an excuse for you to be. All levels are corrupt, and everyone plays their part in building and maintaining the prison they live in. This is what some people, who can be considered ‘awake’, are doing about it: actively perpetuating the evils.

In the Bible, Ephesians, Chapter 6 it reads:

“12 For wee wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darknes of this world, against spirituall wickednes in high places.”

Remember: Hope springs eternal. Some people are doing good. They might be few and far between. They might be hard to find. It is these that are doing it not for fame or fortune, not for recognition or gain.

J. Michael Straczynski, writing in the script of Babylon 5:

“No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for his brother. Not for millions, not for glory, not for fame. For one person, in the dark where no one will ever know or see.”

In the Bible, John, Chapter 15:

“13 Greater loue hath no man then this, that a man lay downe his life for his friends.”
